Hurrah, the Easter holidays are here! We're halfway in and in need of some more creative ideas for play and craft.
With that in mind, I've selected my favourites from last week's Tuesday Tutorials link-up to get creative with the mountain of cardboard from this weekend's Easter eggs.

Today we walked in the footprints of dinosaurs.

Top Tips For A Successful Bedtime Story
TomTom have recently conducted a study which shows that 65% of parents believe that reading to their child is important for their progression, yet a third of parents never read their child a bedtime story.
I personally find this incredibly sad, as a bedtime story is such a wonderful part of childhood and not only helps to develop the parent-child bond, but also fills a child's head full of calm thoughts before a good night's sleep, and can model not only an excellent writing style and good vocabulary, but help them to process many everyday situations and explore solutions for it.
Small World Play: Cars and Tunnels
Last year we had a new fridge freezer delivered and it came in an enormous box which The Boy immediately claimed as his own with his toy cars. Digging out the paints and some props, we set to turning it into a small world haven which is still played with weekly. In fact last week I tried to get it into the recycling, but The Boy cried and I'm a soft mum.

The past week has seen some absolutely glorious Spring days. Not over the weekend unfortunately, but there have been glimpses of warmth and golden sunshine and new life.

Easter Egg Tree Decorations (Ostereierbaum)
When I was a teen, my sister went to Germany at Easter time on a school exchange trip and came back ladened with gifts of delicate, decorated eggs hung on fine thread. She recounted how it was a centuries old tradition to decorate trees and bushes with Easter eggs, known as the Ostereierbaum or Easter egg tree, and proceeded to hang them on cut forsythia stems.
We decided to make some of our own decorations using some polystyrene eggs, ribbons and sequins we had.

A rhyme my dad used to recite to me as a child and this weekend has definitely seen nature reawaken from a deep slumber. Once Spring is on its way, Easter follows closely behind and for this week's Tuesday Tutorials, I've chosen some great examples of decorations to embrace the Easter weekend.
