Days 19 -25 of Project 365

19-23 of 365

24-25 of 365

19. Silhouette #1 (The most glorious day in weeks and we met up with my brother, sister-in-law and their daughter further along the coastline to spend the afternoon at Ogmore Beach fossil hunting. We even had a picnic on the rocks with a blazing sun overheard and minimal breeze to drop the temperature.)

20. Silhouette #2 (An after school trip down to the nature reserve to feed the swans, and the sunset cast an impressive backdrop.)

21. Scarecrow (The Boy was very keen to do some painting, specifically mixing brown. Once he'd not quite managed to do that, he decided to paint a scarecrow. I'm not entirely sure that this is a particularly effective scarecrow, but hey-ho!)

22. Froggy Legs (The Boy has brought home spellings for each week, his school uses the 'Look, Cover, Write, Check' method which he seems very happy with and he was keen to make a start on them.)

23. Numicon (I've borrowed a maths resource from school which The Boy absolutely loves. Numicon helps to develop number bonds, counting and adding skills. If anyone is looking for something like this for their child then, while pricey, I'd really recommend it.)

24. Maestro (I had to go to the dental hospital today for a root extraction from a botched molar extraction 16 months ago; they snapped off the fourth root but as most molars only have three they didn't think to check for a fourth. By the time I'd arrived home I wasn't fit for much but managed to sneak a picture of The Boy playing on the piano before bedtime.)

25. Mad Science (We finally managed to have a go this afternoon at a science activity that I've wanted to try for ages, more on the blog next week!)

Days 12 – 18 Of Project 365

12-18 of 365

(Some of these are the wrong order to fit in the collage)

12. Lego Head (The Boy is getting quite good at deciphering the LEGO instructions although he does need some guidance as they seem to miss steps often. Sunday was a quite day of playing in the house.)

13. The Big Bear (After the CBeebies Stargazing focus last week, The Boy has been passionate about stars and the constellations. I sent Mr. TBaM into the loft to retrieve my grandad's constellation globe which is around 35 years old. We spend a good half an hour examining the different 'people' in the sky.)

14. Astronomer (I gathered together all of the resources I could think of in the house, and set up a stargazing den for him in the corner of the dining room complete with a battery-operated orrery.)

15. Hello! (Wednesday evening, I couldn't bear to put another sleeping child photo in, no matter how cute he is asleep. This is him using the slinky as a megaphone. Because he's 4.)

16. The Boot (We bought The Boy a globe at Christmas as he often asks where some countries are, and he was eager to find out where Italy was after school on Thursday.)

17. Dusk (After a relatively mediocre day at home on my own feeling very meh, I decided that we were going down the beach after school. We togged up in wellies and waterproofs and went and enjoyed the most beautiful sunset while throwing all our energy into plopping pebbles.)

18. Mr. Fix-it (Mr. TBaM fell over cycling home from work and damaged his gear slightly, which completely fell of into the spokes causing more damage! The Boy helped him fix it this afternoon following a busy morning at a new soft-play centre.)

Days 5 – 11 of Project 365

5-11 of 365

5. Flutter (Of all the toys that The Boy received at Christmas, the £1.99 plastic men with a plastic parachute attached to their back are his favourite by far. He will happily spend an hour floating them down and then going and fetching them to start all over again. And those aren't Christmas lights still up as I took all my decorations down; those are fairy lights that I put back up to brighten the hallway.)

6. Happiness Is… (… was the topic for his Christmas homework and so in true last minute style we sat down to do it on Monday afternoon. The Boy decided that happiness is Christmas because he likes having people over. He wrote all of that independently.)

7. The Weekly Stock Shot #1 (First day back at work and I didn't have time to take a photo other than once The Boy was in bed asleep; my fall back photograph! I was also demonstrating to someone on twitter how to use a torch light angled and no flash on the camera as it creates a softer photograph than with flash light, and doesn't wake your sleeping child!)

8. Concentration (A little sand art was the perfect after school activity, and I love this photograph because of the concentration throughout his body.)

9. Reflecting (I took delivery of the reflector pack that I'd ordered from ebay today (having read A Party Of Seven's post about bouncing light around). It's a cheap pack but I didn't want to spend much when I'm getting used to the technique of using reflectors. The light in our house is so dim and there are so many shadows that I decided we'd try to bounce some light around. In this photograph I've used the black as a backdrop and he's sat on the gold reflector which adds warmth to his face.)

10. The Weekly Stock Shot #2 (Feeding the swans on a Friday after school has become a habit of ours, they were certainly very hungry tonight.)

11. Oh Mummy! (Again another tip from A Party Of Seven is to have something silly on your head or around the camera lens to obtain a natural shot of your child's reaction. The Boy was clambering all over the old dock machinery in Cardiff Bay today and was pulling some ridiculous faces as I tried to get a decent photo of him. I bunged his dinosaur hat on my head and called him; this is what he thought of my new headwear.)

Days 1 – 4 of Project 365

1-3 of 365

1. And sleep… (I'd hoped for a more exciting photo for the first day of the 2014 project but the day was busy and tiring and it was bedtime before I had a chance to take a photo, let alone the inclination. The Boy is on his second ear infection within six weeks and I spent a lot of the night nursing him as he screamed in pain. That saw us rush out to the Out of Hours doctor's surgery to get antibiotics, for which I was late as I had a horrendous headache and was finding it difficult to get going. Because I was late I drove too fast and set off a speed camera. I came home reticent but overjoyed to spend the afternoon with my brother and his family. Then I took mum for her Christmas present, to see Singin' In The Rain and have a meal after. I came home to discover a sweaty and sobbing little boy in pain. I hate Winter because of what it does to him.)

2. Reflecting (As we took down the Christmas tree and examined all the wonderful shininess of the baubles, we have a good old chat about our Christmas and all our favourite parts. The Boy loved seeing Edward the Elf, having new toys and spending time with people who came over to see us.)

3. Teamwork (We met up with some friends in Techniquest for the afternoon and The Boy and his friend had a great time exploring science displays and a 'Don't Do This At Home' science show.)

4. Aaaarrrr! (A friend gave us an unwanted pirate set which she'd bought from the damaged stock directly from Playmobil, randomly there was a vet in there! )

WAHOO! We made it! Another year of Project 365 complete!

Seriously well done to every single person who has snapped away for 365 days, and those who've taken part in Project 52. It is a major accomplishment and you should all feel very proud when you look back on the photos you've taken this year.

This is the beginning and end of my 2013:

Day 1 & Day 365 of 2013

I really hope that many of you will continue with the project next year, reviewing how much you've accomplished and the changes in your children is amazing!

Days 356 – 365 of Project 365

Days 356-365 of Project 365

356. Twist and… SNAP! (I enlisted his help to prepare the Brussel sprouts ready for Christmas Day. Buying them on the stalk was a complete indulgence, but it was good for him to see how they actually grow.)

357. Wrapping (The Boy had some help from me to wrap Daddy's present, and then wrote who it was for and from on it. I love seeing him writing independently.)

358. The stockings were hung by the chimney with care… (Our traditional Christmas Eve was great fun this year: making and decorating the gingerbread house, watching Polar Express in the pyjamas that Edward the Elf left as a present when he returned to the North Pole, making reindeer food and sprinkling it, hanging up our stockings from the mantelpiece. We always finish with 'The Night Before Christmas' as a bedtime story.)

359. I Got It Right (Showing a photo of The Boy opening a present with a gleeful face would have been too obvious. This is Mr. TBaM opening up his present; a scooter which he has wanted for 18 months.)

360. Cheese (Mum took us out to a beachside Italian restaurant for lunch on Boxing Day rather than her standing in the kitchen cooking for two hours! It was great to have something different and to sit as a family, thoroughly enjoying each other's company.)

361. Builder (The Boy and I have very excitedly been constructing a castle from the Teifoc brick set that we gave him for Christmas. We've made a few errors – like forgetting to put the doorframe in – but have really had good fun doing it together.)

362. Crashed Out (My final week wouldn't be complete without a sleeping Boy photo!)

363. Tiger, Tiger (Father Christmas brought The Boy face paints and he asked me if I'd paint his face. He's never had it done before and I was amazed at how well he sat while I did it, then he spent ten minutes roaring at himself in the mirror. However, I've just discovered how hard it is to get off; he still has yellow in his eyebrows two days later!)

364. Little Chef (We've been having major issues with The Boy's eating ever since he was sick at his aunt's wedding seven weeks ago. It's almost psychosomatic in a way. On Sunday he'd refused to eat his scrambled eggs because of the colour – it's one of his favourite meals – and had made himself vomit as a result. On Monday we went shopping for his choice of tea and he helped me prepare it; result as he ate it all!)

365. Splat! (The day started in the same way that everyday has for the past week; torrential rain and drab, grey skies. I felt a bit down in the dumps but resolved to don our waterproofs and go to the beach. However by the time we got there, the sun was shining, the sky was azure, and it was actually quite warm. As the tide was far out beyond the end of the pier, we ventured down onto the beach and trotted down to the water's edge; over pebbled, fine golden sand, rockpools and squelchy mud. This is where we had a great time making huge footprints and gloopy noises. I turned around to take a picture of the pier, heard an "uh-oh" and whipped back around to see this. Thank God I'd put his waterproof trousers on him!)

Notification: Week 52 of Project 365

It's coming to the end of this year's 365 project and I've been left with a conundrum; the year end is actually next Tuesday (31st December). My OCD can't handle the 52 weeks of the linky finishing this weekend and then the next week being #1 again, but with three days of the old year in the round-up.

Also, I've got my in-laws visiting all weekend and I'm going to be chockablock!

I know I'm not going to be the only one busy over the course of the next five days, and so (after a chat with Jenny from Mummy Mishaps about it), I've decided that I'll open #52 of Project 365 linky on the morning of Tuesday 31st December 2013 (at 10 o'clock) until midnight of Wednesday 1st January 2014. My round-up will contain ten days of photos: Sunday 22nd – Tuesday 31st December 2013.

I hope you will join me then to link up your final photographs of the daily project?
