Keeping Warm With SIGG

A couple of months ago, I was pleasantly surprised one day to receive a parcel from one of my favourite companies: SIGG. They make stunningly beautiful, resuable and practical water bottles, and in this parcel were a few essentials for the Winter.

They were to prove to come in very useful during one of our favourite excursions in October: our first football match!

Three weeks before we went to see Cardiff Bluebirds beating Barnsley at home, we had been sat on Barry Island beach in temperatures that warranted shorts and t-shirts. For the day of the match, the weather wasn't that bad but there was a distinct chill in the air. The type of weather that if you didn't have a flask and a hot pasty to warm yourself, then you were going to turn as blue as the seats adorning the stands!

The Steelworks Metro Mugs and aluminium boxes that we were sent were perfect for exactly this purpose. Hot chocolate in the flask and a couple of hot pasties in the tin meant that we were kept toasty warm for the entire match, which quite frankly is a good job when you're sat still for ninety minutes.

The Steelworks Metro Mugs are a new design from SIGG that are quite simply stunning, insulated travel mugs. Slimline, they are perfect for fitting into a handbag for morning coffee on the way into work, or for a walk in the gret outdoors in these chilly Winter months. When we used them for the football, we filled it with hot water first to heat up and 'activate', then filled it with hot chocolate. This was at 1.15pm. By the time I got home at 5pm and emptied out the remaining inch or so, it was still very warm and drinkable. As the Metro mugs are a lot lighter and slender than other insulating drinks containers, they are much more convenient to carry around. Priced at £19.95 for a 0.38l mug or £14.95 for a 0.25l mug.

Mr. TheBoyandMe was most bemused when he saw the aluminium boxes because they resemble the traditional food boxes that he used to use in camping. I will confess that the retro design made me feel like George from The Famous Five and I really wanted to take lashing and lashing of ginger beer with us! They aren't designed to be an insulative food box, however as they are made of metal they do lend themselves to retaining heat better than a plastic box, especially if that food is wrapped up. With a clip-latch at either end, they are very easy to access and keep food secure. The aluminium boxes are also really sturdy and can take a few knocks, as with any SIGG products. Available in maxi (£26) or mini size (£23).

Would I recommend the Steelworks Metro Mugs and Aluminium boxes? I'd consider them a little bit of an essential at the moment!

And because Sigg are so very kind to the readers of TheBoyandMe, I have a beautiful Steelworks Metro Mug to give away to one lucky reader.

This would be perfect for those freezing cold days when you know you've got to take the dog for his walk but you really don't want to! At least I could have a rest at the top of the hill with a warm drink, Bliss 🙂
