Since The Boy started school in September, I've done my utmost to make lunches a fun and enticing thing. Without me there to cajole him into eating everything, I felt it was important to make eating his food an exciting an activity as chatting to his friends around him; it's the main reason that I make him Bento lunchboxes.
He's very fond of having different shaped lunchboxes and lunchbags, and when we were sent the Flatbox lunchbox for him to review, it soon usurped his other lunchbags as his favourite.
The Flatbox lunchbox is a very funky and clever lunchbag indeed; using the idea of a square of neoprene fabric which zips up along the corners to make a pouch with a handle at the top.
It is designed to combat the issue of a lack of a clean table or surface to eat from; sometimes schools have several sittings at lunchtimes and cleaning the tables may be missed during the changeover. My school has the children eat their lunch picnic style on the playground during the warmer months, they love the fresh air which is good for them, however it's obviously an issue with hygiene as they are eating from the floor of which they will then play on. The Flatbox lunchbox can unzip completely to make a square placemat for children to hygienically eat their lunch from, or as The Boy does, just unzip one side which creates a smaller placemat in front of him. It means it's also not taking up too much space on the table.
The fabric is machine washable neoprene which is also heat resistant, the zips are strong and easily opened, and the handles are reinforced at the top to ensure the stitching doesn't come undone. My only issue is that when the sides are zipped up there is a lot of material folded up inside, and this does take away some of the space for The Boy's lunch; I have to be quite careful which lunchbox I use to ensure it fits alongside his water bottle as the case clearly narrows as it reaches the top. It's a minor inconvenience which is overcome, but I do wonder if there may be a way to reduce the amount of folded material.
The Flatbox lunchbox normally retails for Β£27.50, but is on an introductory offer of Β£19.25 at present, and is available in a choice of 9 bright and modern colourways.Β
However, The Nicest Stuff are giving away one Flatbox lunchbox to a lucky reader of TheBoyandMe, in a colourway of their choosing. To be in with a chance of winning, simply complete the Rafflecopter form below.

Sorry for the random question, do you have any of the sistema food storage? I was wondering if it fits within the bag?
Hi Debbie, yes Sistema food storage containers do fit in the bag but it is dependent on the size of your containers. I take my Lock & Lock container in mine and it fits perfectly. The size of container I have is 15.5 x 15.5 x 6.1 cm, 870ml. I've also just tested fitting two in, stacked up and it wasn't an issue. As the material is neoprene it's flexible and can stretch a little if required. Hope this helps.
