More On Monday: Rainbow Pizza

Yesterday I posted this as my Silent Sunday, and I had many people asking what The Boy was making so I thought I'd share with you.

Aware that the cooking experiences that he'd had so far had revolved around cake, I decided we'd make pizza together. A relatively simple main meal to involve your child in, and promoting healthy eating along with encouraging to eat his tea. I won't lie, it wasn't without stress. I am never making pizza dough ever again. Next time, I shall buy a ready-made base from the place where 'every little helps'. Because they're not wrong, it would have helped a lot!

Oh, and the Silent Snday picture was of him sprinkling on parmesan cheese.

He needed a little help with the tomato puree because he hasn't quite got the concept of him spreading with the back of a spoon, what with him being two and all that. However, the rest of it, he did himself with me just pointing at blank spaces to put a topping on. It turned out to be quite a quite a large pizza for him and so he only had a quarter of it, but he wolfed it down.

Just goes to show how tasty home-cooked food can be, doesn't it?

More On Monday: Muddy Puddles

Traditionally, I've used the 'More on Monday' blog-title to explain my Silent Sunday. However, today I'm using it because I had difficulty choosing a picture for my Silent Sunday and therefore I want to share the other photographs.

On Saturday we went to a local country park with lakes and woodland. We went equipped with The Boy's special George muddy puddles wellies and my camera. The Boy, and the mud, did not disappoint. I have decided that I love this time of year with an infant: it's a whole new world to explore of treasures from the trees, sounds echoing around the woodland with a little red nose from the bite in the air.

Autumn is way more exciting than Summer!

This is the photograph that Mr. TheBoyandMe wanted me to use as my Silent Sunday.

After we'd finished jumping in muddy puddles (he was saturated, I need to look out the waterproof all-in-one suit), we went and explored the wooded areas, including a rather fabulous looking tree-trunk.

And then daddy and The Boy pretended to be aeroplanes.

I seriously love this photo because of the way that The Boy is looking at his daddy, sheer adoration.

More on Monday: 'Wanted'

Yesterday I posted this image as my Silent Sunday:

and unsurprisingly, quite a few people wanted to know what it was!

Quite a lot of people picked up that it was something to do with TorchWood and out of those a couple realised that it was something to do with a specific event. As far as I can see only one person (CaroleHeidi) was able to identify exactly who it was about.

I didn't set out to photograph this at all. On Saturday evening, the three of us went to the Pizza Express in Mermaid Quay, Cardiff. We went for a wander around the area so that The Boy could stretch his legs after sitting quietly for so long. After seeing (and running away from) the swans, we decided to go up the long ramp rather than struggle up the old harbour steps. At the end of the first run of the ramp was a stone wall with wire fencing over the top of it. And this was adorned with tributes and memorials.

To whom I may hear you ask?

Ianto Jones from TorchWood!

Yes. You're right. He's a television character. And yes, you're right. It's quite sad really. And I don't mean in an emotionally depressing manner.

However, I can kind of understand it a little bit. First of all he was a really good character in the series, and, as is the case with much regional solidarity, the locals feel proud of him. By the time Children of Earth was aired, him and Gwen were the only main Welshies left in it. So this solidarity for an icon on television I can understand. But, and here's the biggy: it's not real-life!

This photo shows the 'tribute' in full. I am reliably informed by Wikipedia (because that's never wrong) that the site of the shrine is one of the fictional entrances to 'the hub' in TorchWood and where Ianto ran his cover "Tourist Office".

I know. All a bit weird isn't it?

You did ask!

Yesterday I posted this image to Silent Sunday:

… and confused a hell of a lot of people!

I had over 40 comments that ranged from:

"Am I still drunk?"

to

"Fab pic – slightly confused!! Would make more sense with a drink I think!x"

via

"I don’t get it, but I think I like it if that makes sense lol! x" (my personal favourite)

This rather intriguing photograph was taken on Cardiff Bay Barrage, South Wales and has been the source of much bemusement to visitors that saunter across to watch the yachts coming in and out, for a good few years now. In fact, it's missed by an awful lot of people because it's not actually explained or advertised anywhere on the Barrage!.Quite often, it is only when someone pays attention to why someone else is standing in that exact spot that it is noticeable.

As Honiebuk said in her comment:

"I had to look twice and realised that it’s a bit like the Channel 4 ads – you have to be in the ‘right’ spot to take this photo to see the effect. They must have been very specific where they painted and the angles, width etc."

That's exactly the point, wandering around the vicinity you could be excused for thinking that a Cardiff City Highways representative had been a bit slap happy with some yellow paint! There are yellow lines seemingly randomly painted on everything: tarmac, pavements, dock gates, railings, etc. It is only when you stand a specific yellow cross out of the four painted on the ground that it all lines up to see the above image. There's no reason why, it's art!

This clever optical illusion was painted by 'Felice Varini and uses the Barrage structures and paint to create a collage that results in circles. The art highlights the many parts that are needed to make up the operational structure of the Barrage.' (www.visitcardiff.com)

For images of it out of alignment see here.

Oh and well done to the only person who knew what it was: SAHMLovingIt! Sorry I planted your comment into moderation for a few hours so I could leave everyone else guessing, hope you don't mind?
