Orchard Toys: Where's My Cupcake? (Review & Competition)

Anyone who has read any reviews on my blog will know that the statement above is true. I am a massive fan of Orchard Toys and think that they really are the leading producers of educational games and puzzles in the UK at the moment; long-lasting, sturdy, attractive, environmentally friendly and fun, you'd be hard pushed to find a better brand.

Orchard Toys have another fantastic game out called 'Where's My Cupcake?'. Aimed at 3-9 year olds and for 2-4 players, the game is based around collecting the most cupcake cards and focuses on promoting manners during play. Included in the box is a cupcake guide to remind children of the ten cupcakes used in the game, but on the back is a recipe so you can make your own yummy cakes.

Educational Guide:

  • Encourages observation, matching and counting skills (pre-mathematical skills)
  • Links with Early Learning Goals and National Curriculum Key Stage 1
  • Develops social communication, sharing, co-operation and manners

Yet again, Orchard Toys have produced a winning game proving much social interaction and fun for all the family. Available directly or through various toy stores for Β£7.50.

Now peeps on Twitter will know why I was asking about cupcake recipes – we had an internal Orchard Toys Bake a Cupcake competition to launch Where's my cupcake? Ten of us each entered a plateful of delicious cupcakes. In the end, after much deliberation, I baked lime and coconut ones with a limey butter icing topping. After the judging, we sold off all the cakes in aid of East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH) and raised just over Β£30!

Thanks again, for an excellent review and thanks too to The Boy for his wonderful demonstration of good manners! I love his use of 'Madame'.

No doubt, knowing his baking skills, it won't be long before he bakes some delicious cupcakes using the recipe card included with the game.

Interesting to note that, Jason our lead designer, used just this recipe in our competition… and he won! So it must be good.

My favourite cupcakes are from a local shop called Jellytots & Dollymixtures – they have a wonderful variety of flavours & made a creme egg one at Easter that contained a whole creme egg!!!
