366 #18

We're entering the fifth month of the year, we're getting nearer and nearer to the halfway mark and everyone is doing so well! A few people have dropped out over the past few weeks (I blame Easter!) but it's a hard project to do. Months ago I said it would get easier once the weather improved, I am clearly to blame for the monsoon occuring in Britain at present.

Once you've linked up, it would be great if you could pop over to a few other blogs and have a look and comment on their chosen photos. The further down the linky you are, the less comments you receive. I'm trying something different this week, random ordering with the link-ups. Let me know what you think?

A few more people have joined up to Project 366's Facebook group and it's brilliant to see the community growing. They offer support to those taking part in this photography project, and give much blog love. We've made it a closed group so that not every Tom, Dick or Harry can see the content but if you'd like to join just click the 'ask to join group' button in the top right hand corner of the page.

Tuesday 1st May 2012 – 'Contentment' (122/366)

I had it all sorted for today's 366. When the rain halted briefly at 11.30 this morning, I sent The Boy out onto the patio to splash around in the giant puddle that had accumulated. I took some fabulous shots on my dSLR of the water droplets flying up everywhere and I knew that my 366 would be one of those.

Then it turned out that the rain didn't start up again, and by 2pm the sun was blazing down turning all the water droplets on the plants into diamonds and helping the giant puddle to evaporate. By the time Mr. TBaM came in, it was glorious and the first bit of sunshine we'd had in well over a week and a half. I sent the boys outside to play while I prepared tea, watched them having fun and smiled to myself. I'd waited for this time of year to reappear for so many months and even if it only here for today, we were going to enjoy it. We ate our tea on the patio: me on the backstep, The Boy at his picnic table and Mr. TBaM sitting on the only dry grown-up seat. Both of them were splashing their welly-booted feet in the now rapidly-drying giant puddle.

If it rains again tomorrow and for the rest of the week, I can cope because we've had a glimpse of Summer.

Day 120 of the project, almost 1/3 of the way through. Well done to all of us for getting so far and I hope you're finding it easier taking the photos in your daily routine and enjoying doing so. This project shouldn't be a chore for anyone, in fact it's such a valuable way of recording your evolving lives and the small moments which can be missed.

Last week I set myself the challenge of taking photos and editing them on the iPad3. Yep, that went well. Maybe it's because I'm still learning how to use its camera, maybe it's because despite having a 5MP camera it still has the tiniest lens in the entire world with no flash or light meter. By Tuesday I was itching to pick up my dSLR, but I set myself a challenge and stick to it. As it so happens, Friday's photo (this week's chosen link-up) is one of my favourite photos of The Boy, and goes to show how invaluable editing software it sometimes. Thank you Camera+!
