#49: Find A Geocache

At the grand old age of 4&¾, The Boy has accomplished 37 of the '50 Things To Do Before You're 11&¾' tasks created by the National Trust; a list designed to get children outdoors doing the fresh-air things which children should be doing in the most innocent years of their lives. The range of tasks very much encourages children to step away from technology and embrace their 'natural childhood', however there is one that does involve technology and that is geocaching.

On a wet and grey Sunday a fortnight ago, we decided to try it out for the first time with The Boy.

Bank Holiday Treats (Review)

Bank Holidays are a tradition in Britain, which usually involves an awful lot of praying to the weather gods for no rain, and possibly even a few hours of sunshine.

More importantly, it provides families the chance to have an extended period of time together; a precious extra twenty-four hours where homework, and ironing the school uniform, and packed lunches can be forgotten about for just one more day. Where Sunday night doesn't bring groans, sighs and tantrums.

And one of the best parts of the whole thing? Is the food.

Healthy Snacks for a Play Date (Guest Post)

Make play dates tasty and fun with these delicious and nutritious healthy snacks for your little ones.

Dipping fruits

Make a “child fondue” with a bowl of natural yoghurt drizzled with honey, and surround it with a selection of dipping fruits; strawberries, apple slices, orange segments, sliced banana and grapes. Children love to get involved with their food, and it’s a fantastic way of getting them to eat more fruit in a fun and interactive way. Fruits are packed with glucose which keeps the little ones energised. It’s also a great opportunity to teach them about the importance of eating different colours; orange to prevent colds, green for energy, yellow for eyesight and red for growing big and strong! Otterbox iPad Mini Case (Review)

We recently expanded our 'tablet family' with an iPad Mini, and while I thought that it was something that I could keep for myself rather than sharing with The Boy, he has very firmly developed a preference for it. I suspect it's based on the size and manageability of it; in comparison to the iPad 3 it's two inches smaller and easier for a child to use.

When this became apparent, I realised that we'd need a safe and strong case for it, in order to protect it from bumps and scrapes which are bound to happen. We were offered the Otterbox case to review and were eager to put it through its paces.

The Eden Project (Review)

When we holidayed in Cornwall last month with family, the one place that we simply had to visit was The Eden Project. As it had been two years since our last visit, we were keen to explore any changes that might have been made, as well as exploring the different flora in late Winter as opposed to the peak of Summer.

We weren't disappointed.
