Throwing A Spectacular Halloween Party For Children

Halloween is an exciting time of the year for the young ones. The breeze starts to cool, pumpkins appear on the shelves, and the front porch features life-size Frankenstein inflatable decorations.

Halloween is just the occasion to unlock children’s imaginations, while treating everyone to homemade goodies, and having fun while doing so. All these elements can be incorporated in a Halloween party that is as fun for the children to enjoy as it is for you to plan.

Welcome to 365 Photo A Day Project linky. This linky covers round-up posts for the week or one of your favourite photos of the week. I've written a post providing tips for completing the project, always ask one of the regulars for help if you're stuck.

The 365 linky only works because of people linking to it and then contributing their thoughts to others' posts via comments. I can't emphasise this enough, it's the whole point of the linky!

Join in by entering the URL of your favourite photograph of the week (either a 52 or a 365 photo) and show some comment love to everyone else in the community. We've got a Facebook group, and now I've created a collaborative Pinterest board (if you'd like to collaborate, let me know and I'll add you).

  1. Choose your favourite photo from the past week and link it up below.
  2. Please add the badge to your linked-up post so that other people know how to find all the other fabulous entries.

Exploring The National Trust: Dyrham Park

NT Dyrham Park

I absolutely adore Autumn. It is a glorious time of year; full of colours and treasures, walks through crunchy leaves while listening for bouncing squirrels overheard. It's also the time of year that we start exploring new National Trust places, arboretums in the grounds of stately homes are glorious in Autumn.

Last weekend we visited Dyrham Park for the first time, and we soon realised that it was going to be first of many visits.

What Would I Say To My Younger Self? (Giveaway: Win a Google Nexus 7)

Oh, there are so many things I could say to my younger self if I had the chance. I might point out running down that bank of rubble in high-heeled boots is not a good idea, it would certainly save the torn ligaments and months of pain. Or I might have to point out that the note that we were given as change in the Los Angeles' petrol station was in fact not $100 but a $1,000,000 Monopoly money note.

Possibly we had 'tourist' written on our heads that day.

But on a more serious note, what would I say to my younger self?

Celebrate 25 Years Of Elmer The Elephant (Free Downloads)

When I trained tot be a nursery nurse (before teaching) we were frequently set assignments throughout the year to create anthologies of activities based upon favourite storybook characters. Each 'box of tricks' was supposed to contain a variety of activities that children could dive into and complete themselves with minimal reliance upon the adult, and encourage maximum creativity by developing a love of the story across a range of different learning experiences.

Elmer The Elephant was my absolute favourite box to assemble because of the language and craft opportunities throughout.

Anderson Press are celebrating 25 years of the loveable patchwork elephant this Summer, and have sent me a range of their celebratory products to enjoy. However, they've also sent me a pack of activity sheets to share with you as well.

Sunday 21st September 2014

Sunday 21st September 2014

My first car was a K-reg Volvo 440, bought when I was 23. I'd passed my test when I was 18, but as I couldn't afford to buy a car or run it then I waited five years, saving my wages from my weekend job in Marks & Spencers to buy the Volvo before I started my first teaching post. I loved that car and kept it for five years, before changing it for a Renault Scenic. Two further Scenics later and I have vowed never to own another French car; they are so expensive to fix! In the Summer, my latest one proved too expensive to keep and so I've been driving a runaround for a month or so.

Until yesterday.

Yesterday we picked up our first ever BRAND NEW car. And oh boy, did the car showroom make us feel special!

(I might want to sleep in it, to keep it safe!)
