Cray-Pas Oil Pastels (Review)

When I was asked by my headteacher to return to work in September as a class teacher (as opposed to a cover teacher as I've done for four years), I was excited. There are some subjects that I have really missed teaching over the past few years and Art is the main one; I studied it for GCSE, A level and it was my specialism during my teaching degree. I can't think of a single child in thirteen years of teaching that hasn't enjoyed the tactile qualities of the subject, becoming thoroughly proud of the work that they produce.

Holly & Beau Colour-Changing Raincoat (Review)

We are not a fair-weather family; adverse weather doesn't keep us indoors. If anything, sometimes we welcome the rain or winds to get out and blow the cobwebs away! The Boy has a vast array of waterproof trousers, jackets and all-in-ones which are perfect for the Winter, but a little too warm for Autumn. However, he was recently sent a colour-changing raincoat which has seen him positively fighting to get outside in the few rain showers that we've had.

Funny Boy

The Boy is very used to having his photograph taken, and while most of the time he is happy to 'go with it', sometimes he decides to look anywhere but at the camera. It can be frustrating.

That's why the other day he pretended to have a mild temper tantrum at me.

I do love this boy of mine.

Colourful Copper (Giveaway)

I absolutely adore this time of year for the everchanging colours and rich tones in nature, the trees shift their colours from one day to the next. Autumnal walks to find pine cones, acorns and conkers are accompanied by the sound of crunchy leaves cascading down from the near-skeletal trees in the cool October wind, a flurry of coppers and golds in the air.

I'm sure that I'm not the only one with bowls of Autumn treasures scattered around the house, mixed up with cinnamon sticks and dried orange slices; the aroma is warming and comforting. I've found the perfect bowls to display our finds in as well.

Join in by entering the URL of your favourite photograph of the week (either a 52 or a 365 photo) and show some comment love to everyone else in the community. We've got a Facebook group, and now I've created a collaborative Pinterest board (if you'd like to collaborate, let me know and I'll add you).

P-P-P-Pick Up A Pumpkin

One of our absolute favourite places to visit for easy outdoor fun on a weekend is our local Pick-Your-Own fruit farm. It's a perfect example of diversification, as not only does Hendrewennol have all the usual berries to harvest during the Summer months, but it also has a themed maize maze (this year in the shape of Wales with famous Welsh castles scattered throughout), large sandpit, and a hay-bale maze. You can visit for free to enjoy the play areas, entry to the maize maze is just a few pounds each.

Last year we discovered that they also grew PYO pumpkins, and I may have gone overboard with the 14 that we ended up taking home. This year we were determined not to get so carried away!

Heartburn & Gastric Reflux

I have three different morning routines; one for a work day, one for a non-work but still a school-run day, and one for weekends. The basic components are the same (wake up, shower, dress, eat) but there are different additions; one of which is the moment where I rattle like a medical cabinet.

As someone who has suffered from an underactive thyroid and gastric reflux for around 15 years, I am very used to taking tablets daily. One of them is necessary to actually function, the other prevents me from being doubled up in pain and managing to eat simple foods without getting heartburn. Or even drink water.

Because when I was pregnant with The Boy, I wasn't able to take my gastric reflux tablets and even drinking water would give me heartburn. On bad days even my own saliva gave me heartburn.
