Autumn's Yankee Candle Collection
Autumn is my favourite season of the year for all the rich colours on the trees, the marvellous treasures we can find in nature and the crispness of the air. It's a wonderous time of year as children start to understand the way that fruit and vegetables ripen, and can see and taste the fruits of their labour.
Yankee Candles have tapped into that as they have produced a fruity range of candles which perfectly reflect the spicey aromas associated with Harvest and Autumn; Cinnamon Appleberry, Grapevine & Oak, Pomegranate Cider, Harvest, and Apple Pumpkin.
We've been sent the absolutely glorious 'Harvest' to review and it is my new favourite scented candle I own. At the moment, I actually haven't lit it because the fragrance is wonderful as it is!
It is an incredibly rich scent with golden hues of Autumn; cinnamon, cloves and musk combine with a hint of sweet apples and pumpkins to really fill the air deliciously. And with 110-150 burn hours, the smell is sure to last all season; that's if you can bear to light it!
The Harvest Yankee Candle is available from high street stores and through the website directly, priced at £19.99 for the large jar candle.

Trunki PaddlePak (Review)
The Boy has now reached the age where he'll carry around his belongings in a backpack, and he'll do this happily if said backpack is a cute, green, frog-themed one; green being his favourite colour.
During the Summer, his absolute favourite bag was the Trunki Paddlepak that he'd been sent to review, and it went everywhere with us, from days out to the beach, to swimming, to the nature reserve and even to Nana's house (two minutes away from our own house). To keep him going during these busy activities, Trunki were very kind and filled his Ribbit Paddlepak full of Ella's Kitchen goodies, and the raisin and spelt cookies were just the snack to replenish his reserves after swimming.
The Trunki Paddlepak is a great, novelty bag which comes in a variety of different aquatic animal designs from a orca whale to a lobster! The clever roll top design with a clasp ensures that the contents stay secure and it's easy for children to open and close. It's a water-resistant bag which is ideal for swimming as it doesn't let the dry clothes inside it get wet on the changing room floor, and neither does it let the sopping wet towel and bathers drip all over the car! There are reflective and high-visibility straps and a dry zip pocket for those things which need to be kept from getting drenched. The straps are adjustable and it's very comfortable for The Boy to wear. It has a 7.5l capacity which means not very much to me, however it holds his arm bands, bathers, a bath towel and his toiletries, definitely big enough for a five year old's goodies!
Priced at £19.99 it's a great bag which is well made and lasts incredibly well. The waterproof aspect is excellent and it's fun and comfortable to use. Top marks from us!

Photography Workshop: Painting With Light
I was very lucky to have recently been invited to a night-time photography workshop in the magnificent Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff. The session was run by a professional photographer who wanted to show us how to photograph light at night time, specifically light trails, on behalf of a travel company who specialise in holidays to see the Aurora Borealis.
Pompom Craft: Spooky Spiders
When I was a child I used to love making pompoms, and have been eagerly waiting for The Boy to have the fine motor skills to get him started on them as well. I've recently spotted a lot of Christmas crafts on Pinterest using pompoms, but decided to make a more seasonal first attempt with The Boy.
Hallowe'en At Hendrewennol
When you find somewhere that works for you as a family, it can be easy to over-visit and wear out your enthusiasm for the place. Hendrewennol is our new favourite place but we're quite fortunate that as it's a pick-your-own fruit farm it is quite seasonal and therefore we can't overdo our visits. We've visited several times this year; for Easter, fruit picking, exploring the maize maze, and pumpkin picking, but this weekend we went to take part in the haunting Hallowe'en activities which the owners had laid on.

Lessons From Parents' Evening
This week has seen parents' evening in my school, which has meant me working until 8pm two nights. I'm not going to lie, it's exhausting, especially when one of those days fell on a work day and I'd been in school since 8am. However it's part of the job so I deal with it. As a parent now I realise how important these sessions are, and am far more compassionate than I was pre-child.
However, as The Boy is also in my school now, it meant that we weren't able to have our own parents' evening on the same day, and therefore saw his teacher on Tuesday after school. Yes, he had a good report and yes I am proud of him, but yesterday when I sat down to talk with him about his targets, I had an epiphany.
