SIGG Eco Bottle: Undersea Poetry (Review & Competition)

As you may know, I am a SIGG Mummy which involves us reviewing products for SIGG Eco Bottles. We've had bottles sent to us for all the family for both hot and cold drinks, and also food storage tins. Every single product we have, we use throughout the week and test them to destruction. Only you would really need to do some damage to destroy these bottles.

Take my bottle for instance: it comes out in my handbag with my every time I leave the house and comes into school with me on my working days. It's covetted by all the girls in the school, goes in many different classes and everyone knows which bottle I'm talking about if I've left it in a classroom. I've dropped it on the playground countless times. Granted, there are small dents in it to show for it's playground antics, but they just add to the appeal of my SIGG bottle. These specially crafted bottles are tough and durable, they can stand a fall over on the tarmac.

Jubilee Special: English Cheesecake Company (Review)

Hazy Summer days and balmy evenings remind me of my childhood, when mum would lay the table for dinner with the sun streaming through the large, netted windows. The dustmotes would be floating in the air and the table would be laidened with salads, meats, scotch eggs and buttered new potatoes fresh from the pan where they'd been seasoned with salt and mint from the garden. Invariably pudding would be either an arctic roll or a cheesecake.

To me there is nothing more synonymous with Summers and celebrations than cheesecake. It may not be a terribly British dessert, its origins lie in Ancient Greece and more recently in New York, but I do think it's been assimilated into the nation's heart as much as curry and rice!

Fifteen years ago, two friends decided to set up a company creating exquisite cheesecakes of the 'baked' variety. The English Cheesecake Company was born, as was a new generation of cheesecakes. Sumptuous and indulgent, the English Cheesecake Company's cakes are a true work of art in both presentation and the combination of flavours which dissolve in your mouth.

I was sent a box of their limited edition Minis produced to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee:

I know.

Have you ever seen a more beautiful selection of cheesecakes? There are three types of cheesecakes included in the Jubilee Minis selection:

  • left: Vanilla baked cheesecakes, topped with strawberries and white chocolate drizzle.
  • middle: Vanilla baked cheesecake, topped with an edible chocolate Union Jack heart.
  • right: Vanilla baked cheesecakes, topped with a decadent dark chocolate fudge sauce and luxurious white, dark and milk chocolate crowns.

The cheesecakes are sized for individual portions and are a filling amount for a pudding, especially as they are so rich and tasty. Regardless of the fact that they are smaller, they are still decorated with care and attention. If you are having a special party to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, then I would recommend investing in these show-stoppers.

The Jubilee Minis are available from the English Cheesecake Company directly.

I was sent these samples for the purpose of this review, my opinion is honest and unbiased.

That's how many days we've been doing this now. Well done to every single person who's still managing to snap away every single day, and especially to those who are still posting every day.

If it helps? This week I've struggled, and I need to find myself a theme for this forthcoming week because it's difficult to keep taking the same old ones. Maybe I need to get out more often, maybe I need to try another 'From Where I Stand' or possibly even 'Lie'? I'll think on it, but I need freshening up. Don't be afraid to set yourself a theme to keep going on this amazing project.

The Facebook 366 group is over here if you'd like to join our little support community.

Please remember to try and comment on a handful of other 366ers photos, it helps to boost morale.

Oh, and next week I've got another competition for you all!

The Things They Say

We've had a couple of gems this week, not one-liners but whole random conversations!

Me: Where shall we go for our picnic?
The Boy: Let's go to the moon mummy!
Me: It's closed today darling, let's find somewhere else to go.
TB: Chris and Pui did go to the moon.
Me: I think it's a bit far.
TB: But they went.
Me: We can only go when we pretend. Shall we go to the beach?
TB: That's where we can have our picnic. Let's bring some bread. Because I like it.
Me: Anything else?
TB: Brioches and mummy's coffee.
(We were having breakfast)

(We were in the car heading to Asda which is next to the football stadium where we met a certain CBeebies presenter last year)

The Boy: Alex is almost as big as mummy and daddy and me. There's a seat Alex could sit in, in the front with Mr. Maker and Mr. Bwoom (Bloom) and his veggies. He can hold his veggies, there's no space for them. They're in the back of the boot.
Me: What are in the back of the boot?
TB: Their seat-belts.
Me: Whose seat-belts?
TB: Mr. Bwoom's veggies. But Mr. Bwoom must sit in the front next to daddy and Alex. But daddy can drive not Alex because he's not as big as daddy.

Friday 18th May 2012 – 'It's Like…' (139/366)

We called into a local toy shop tonight as I wanted to pick up something for a project I have planned. While we were there we had a quick look at bikes as we have decided to get The Boy one for his birthday in June. The first one he sat on was a character bike with moulded foam tyres and he could barely move it. This is the second bike he tried and it is taken thirty seconds after he sat on it and started pedalling independently for the first time. We had to chase after him.
