145. Present (With Nana's birthday approaching, The Boy decided to decorate a mug for her.)
146. Rainbow Bubbles (A Bank Holiday Monday that was sunny?! Heaven forbid! We were able to plants seeds and vegetables into pots, ride his bike on the barrage and blow bubbles in the sunlight.)
147. Trapped (It was my mum's birthday and we were returning from taking her to a garden centre on the north side of Cardiff when he fell asleep in the car. That's when I knew he wasn't well, again! I dropped her off and drove home, when the rain started. Trapped in the car on the drive by the weather and a sleeping child!)
148. Mwha ha ha! (The Boy adores the game Labyrinth which Nana has, and so we borrowed it to play. I've never played it before, and he absolutely wiped the floor with me. At one point I commented how crafty he was to have made that move as I couldn't have a turn. He looked at me in bewilderment and pointed out that was the whole point of the game. )
149. Double (We met up with a friend and her daughter in Techniquest, which was of course packed to the rafters with parents who couldn't handle a drop or two of precipitation. The Boy was completely absorbed in this science investigation display, and I loved the distortion through the water.)
150. Absorbed (We were wandering around the gift shops in town when The Boy spotted a book that took his fancy. He followed behind me while I shopped, absorbed in the book, silently reading it in his head. I love the power that reading gives him.)
151. Fishing Party (The Boy was invited to the birthday party of Capture By Lucy's eldest son, and we all had a wonderful time fishing for wriggly sweetie worms, netting white chocolate fish and chasing fish-eye marbles down a rapid river run.)

I absolutely love the photo of the boy beating you at Labyrinth, that's a classic! The birthday party sounds epic! #365
I've never seen him look so pleased with himself, cheeky monkey!
I look forward to seeing your photos each week! Love day 149, the reflection in the water is great, I love his facial expression x
I loved the distortion in that tube, gave a great effect.
A sunny bank holiday? What that all about?
Loving the bubbles shot
Our May Day Bank Holiday was sunny too! Who'd have thunked it?
We didn't have sun on our bank holiday this week, but I guess someone had to π
It's been a very wet May I think? Hoping that the weather is about to pick up now for the next few months.
Wow to the fishy party! Sounds fab! I love the photo of the boy beating you at Labyrinth! Epic! #365
The party was fabulous, seriously in awe!
Gorgeous as always – he's looking grown up all of a sudden – sorry! I love the look of The Colourblind Chameleon π
I know! *sob* And yet on Tuesday he was curled up sleeping on my lap like a baby again!
I was thinking the same as Viv, he looks so tall and grown up in the photo at the birthday party. Great bubble shot, but my favourite this week has to be the one where he is beating you at Labyrinth π
He looks so cheeky in it, doesn't he? He's very cunning with games like this and I can't think where he gets it from- π
I've realised how hard it is to take photos of bubbles this week. Took me ages to capture it. I love the black and white one, his excitement is SO lovely to see π
I still don't know the trick but I suspect it's something to do with the strength of the bubble mixture and the light direction?
Fantastic capture of his expression and body gesture as he played Labyrinth. And it is magical the power of reading.
I can see a whole new world has opened up to him; we'll be walking along and I'll feel a pull on my hand as he stops to read a road sign or a flyer catches his eye. It amazes me.
Such a lovely mix of photos this week. The bubble shot is fabulous and I love the Boy's face playing the game.
I love the colours in the bubbles, such a magical thing.
he looks very grown up in the final photo and very smart too. looks and sounds like a fantastic party – that Lucy is very clever and creative. i assume he is better again now then? hope so
i love how much Burton loves pickign a book up and reading it too – such an amazing thing that our boys can read! x
He's got a chest infection but he's on the up, thank God because I really don't know how much more his little body can take.
Test
We had rain on the bank holiday here.. typical UK weather! Love the picture of him playing Labyrinth.. he looks so excited!
He was overjoyed to have beaten mummy, the little monkey!
oh wow i am loving the bubbles picture its beautiful! xx
Thank you, I was so pleased with the colours when it came out.
He is getting so grown up, where does that time go? Love the one of him playing he game. Mich x
Tell me about it, it's absolutely whizzing by.
I love the bubbles and the one where he is beating you at the game – his face is a picture! You were lucky to get a sunny bank holiday – it rained down here – alll day!
Those are my two favourite photos as well, thanks. It's been grotty ever since, don't worry!
Your photos are so beautiful. That's one gift I wish I had – an eye for a photo. It would probably help if I invested in a decent camera to start with. We were playing bubbles outside yesterday and I took some shots but they in no way captured the moment like this one.
A photo really does tell a story and my next goal is to put more effort in to mine.
Thank you, that's a lovely thing to say. Would it help if I told you that only Sunday's and Saturday's photos were taken on my dSLR, and the rest were on my phone?
I love the photo with the bubbles – and his cheeky face when he's playing the game.
Those are my two favourites of the week as well.
I'm going to have to find this Labyrinth game, I've not come across it before and we love playing board games with our kids. Love the bubbles picture too π
It's really tactical and requires a lot of thinking; great for developing problem solving. Even better, four people can play!
I love the photo with the bubbles!
Thanks, me too.
Bubbles. I just love everything about bubbles and that photo captures it all
Thank you! I was really pleased with the colours in them and the way they floated towards me.
Love the look on his face playing that game, books are just the most wonderful thing. I'm so pleased that Monkey shares my love of them too #365
I really think that reading and a love of literature is one of the most magical tools we can I still in our children.
You had sun on Bank Holiday Monday? I'm jealous! What a lovely photo of him playing the game, he looks very pleased to be winning!
We did indeed have sun, it wasn't boiling but nice to have a sunny day.
its great when they can read for themselves, he is doing brilliant for one so young. Laughed at the Labyrinth pic when you shared it on FB, he looks like he is cackling at your misfortune. Im sure Nana liked her cup, and I hope whatever he was hanging for isnt too bad.
I'm so proud of him and his interest in reading, thank you.
What a great set of photographs, so full of diverse expressions. Love the one of him playing (and perhaps winning?!) the game.
Oh definitely winning, no question about it.
Lovely photos, I LOVE bubbles! Hope Nana liked her mug x
She adored it, thank you!
What a sweet idea to decorate a mug for his nana. I love the blowing bubbles picture, and the picture of him beating you at Labyrinth – his little face! x
She loved it but I bet she doesn't even use it so she doesn't 'spoil' it.
I adore that shot of The Boy beating you. It's the hands wringing together as well as that grin!
I thought of you when I saw it, he does look full of devilment doesn't he?
Lovely photos as always and it looks like you have had a busy half term! The birthday party sounds like great fun!
It was wonderful fun and has made me think how I can jazz up The Boy's in a fortnight.
Arrr he looks so excited to be playingand winning the labyrinth game! Beautiful pictures x
He really was, cheeky little monkey!
Aww love the mug he's making and that pic of him laughing cheekily at the board game, it's so funny!!!! Fab that he's reading… my boys can't yet and have no interest in reading or writing which worries me slightly π x
I don't think it's anything to worry about, they all catch up with each other within a few years. It might be that they need a different form of literature to ignite their curiosity like comics?
Haha I love this cheeky face while playing the game. He really seems to be growing up so much. The last photo he looks so grown up
Love Techniquest, we visited many times with our boys. Have you been to @Bristol? Very similar.. oh and the MShed in Bristol great for inquisitive minds. π
We've got the Junior version of Labyrinth – it's a lot of fun. Love the look of glee on his face in that shot.
Cor he looks so grown up in that last one!
That photo of the boy playing labyrinth is just priceless! Love the bubbles one too and I'll bet the party was awesome. Hope this week has been good too (find out soon!). Sorry late commenting x
Fab week, love 146 & 149 π
I love the photo of him playing the game, Leo loves his board games but often doesn't quite get the rules ( I think he chooses to ignore them as opposed to not understand them though) I must admit I do enjoy playing (some of them) with him!
