The Boy woke up at 6am on Friday morning. Much earlier than normal and he wouldn't settle back down to sleep.
He wasn't the only one!
I'd looked out the window and spotted my longed-for inch of snow blanketing the neighbourhood, and despite the opportunity of another 45 minutes worth of sleep, I couldn't settle for the anticipation of whether or not school would be closed. I only work half days on a Friday so it wouldn't have been so bad if I'd had to work, but the hope was still there.
7am the text and e-mail arrived, my prayers were answered and I showed The Boy the wonderland that lay outside the window. It took a few more hours for us to get organised before we descended upon the snow, but when we did we made good use of the fluffy, white stuff.
First up: snowman!
Then: a sledge ride around the block, followed by colouring the snow, making snow angels, and then warming up with a hot chocolate while worrying about our snowman, "Snowman, are you alright out there? Are you cold?"
And eventually he had his first ever snowball fight! That photo bottom left? Right down the lens of my dSLR (I had to run in and dry it off)!

Great photos, they made me smile so much. He looks so warm and cozy and like he is having so much fun. The snowball down the lens of the dSLR must have been a bit of a shock, I bet you were all surprised he hit the target so well.
I ran into the house crying, "No, no, no!" with him wondering in behind me. I don't blame him though, bloody camera in his face all the time!
I'm really seeing the benefit of those all in one waterproof suits now!
Great photos, looks like he had a blast.
This one was from Matalan and cost Β£25, absolutely brilliant! I've tried to buy the next size up for him, but they've sold out.
I love the snow suit definitely doing the job to ensure he enjoys the snow. Such happy photos full of laughter and fun. More snow envy from sunny Cornwall! Thanks for adding them to Country Kids, just cheered up my day seeing that happy face. Hope the camera was no worse for it's snow ball attack!
I'm amazed at how comfortable and happy he is in it, although he does complain about having the loose belt done up. The camera was surprisingly fine, although I did have a mild panic!
Love the photo of the Boy throwing snow at you, its so well caught and he looks so happy!! π He looks like he's had so much fun in the snow. Hope you had a well deserved rest afterwards. I built a snowman two days ago and my legs are still killing me (How unfit does that make me!)
The lens was covered in snow and I didn't half have a panic! All fine though, amazingly. My pelvis really hurt for a day or so after, surprising how they knacker your body still years after giving birth.
fantastic photos he looks like he had a blast! pleased you got your much longed for snowfall x
And it was a decent amount too, really chuffed that we had it to play in. Also really chuffed that the rain was so heavy on Friday and washed the remaining slush away.
Yay! Snow day! He looks like he had loads of fun (popping over from Country Kids)
It was absolutely brilliant, we both had a huge amount of fun. Thanks for your comment.
We had a decent bit of snow here in London. Both kids so excited. Their mum brought home a sledge that eve. The next morning they were both geared up for sledging…..one problem, most of the snow had gone π
Oh no, how gutting! I imagine that central London in the snow is beautiful, aside from all the slushy stuff. Have you had any more since?
I'm quite sorry to see the snow all gone now. Everyone seemed to enjoy having fun in it this year!
I think because we haven't had any in such a long time, plus The Boy is that much older, that it was so much fun!
These pictures are fab π
Thanks
Looks like you had loads of fun, great snowman too x
Thanks, we worked hard on that for ages!
Lovely selection of photos of The Boy in the snow. He did really well with his snowman. Love his snow suit, must invest and get Little Bird one. Thanks for Linking up with Mummybird
It's a brilliant snow suit and I'm glad I bought it when I did!
ha ha, he looks so cheeky. They just love being allowed to throw something at you don't they?
