A Family Of Easter Chicks

Easter Chick Craft

We've been sent a wonderful selection of craft items to get to grips with, and the minute The Boy saw the three different sized polystyrene eggs he declared that we'd be making a family of Easter chicks. And so armed with acrylic paint, feathers, googly eyes and foam feet we set to work.

A Family Of Easter Chicks

You'll need:

  • different sized polystyrene foam eggs – one for each family member
  • acrylic paint
  • googly eyes
  • coloured feathers (to match the acrylic paint)
  • coloured foam (to match the acrylic paint)
  • orange card
  • Bostik glue dots (or thick PVA glue)
  1. Paint each egg a different colour for each family member. Leave to dry and then paint with a second coat.
  2. Cut out chicken feet from the coloured foam, each different coloured egg should have matching coloured feet.
  3. Use the Bostik glue dots to stick the feet to the base of each egg.
  4. Attach the googly eyes to the front of the egg using the the glue dots.
  5. Place a glue dot on each side of the egg, and attach a matching coloured feather pointing down and away from the front of the egg at a 45° angle.
  6. Cut out a diamond shape from the orange card. Fold this in half and attach to the front of the egg as a beak, use a glue dot to hold it in place.
