Competition: 'The Day That…'

Oh, this is a biggy and I'm rather excited about it.

Regular readers may remember that a while ago I reviewed a beautiful sunrise photograph taken on the day that The Boy was born. The company behind them is called The Day That… and since Midsummer's Day 2005 they have taken a photograph of every sunrise along the Cornish coastline.

The photographs are beautiful momentoes of that special day, and while they were created initially to celebrate the owner's child's birth, they are suitable for any great occasion: weddings, christening, significant births etc.

And so to the competition!

We all have at least one special day in our lives. Maybe it’s the day that your first baby was born, the day that you got married, the day you bought your first house. Picture it now – how did you feel on that day? Elated? Excited? Terrified??

However you felt, it will be a day that sticks in your mind forever, a day you never want to forget.

Well, we want to see that day. We want to see one photo from your special day; one that sums up the emotions, the sensations, the atmosphere.

To be in with a chance to win your own beautiful The Day That… framed exhibition-size photograph measuring 84×66.5cm and worth a whopping £250, here’s what you have to do:

• Chose your favourite picture of your own special day;
• Post it on your blog. You can write about it too, but how much you write is up to you – there may be a story behind the photo that you want to share, or it may be that the photo says it all;
• Somewhere in the post add the following statement (including the link):
  • This post is my entry into the The Day That… blogger photo competition
• Add your post to the competition linky below before 15th August 2012 at 9pm.

A panel of judges will carefully go through every link, looking for a picture that they think best captures the essence of your special day – a picture really does paint a thousand words after all. They don’t have to be technically perfect; we’re looking for emotion and inspiration.

The Day That… will add every post to a special Pinterest competition board, and give every entry a mention on twitter, plus five runners up will also get the opportunity to feature on The Day That… website, so it’s a great way to get some extra exposure too.
