Ping & Pong: Santa

I've had the pleasure of reviewing the Ping and Pong series of books before and it really is a pleasure. They are the most lovingly written and illustrated books by Amy Trevaskus (and Alison Heath) with genuinely innocent stories to tell. Amy has come up trumps with another winning title for this festive time of year:

Ping and Pong: Santa tells the tale of when the michevious, mini siblings managed to meet Father Christmas. With this being the first year that Ping and Pong have experienced Christmas, Lucy (their 'big' human) has great joy explaining to them all the customs and traditions surrounding the tree, presents, Santa and even the food that is left out for him and Rudolph. Cheekily, the pair decide to stay up to see the big man himself and this is when their adventure really starts to happen!

When they ask Father Christmas how the magic works, he makes an exception for them and takes them out into the world on Christmas Eve night to show the Christmas wonder!

The story throughout is well-paced and even more well-written. A month ago I had a conversation with my mum about how I wanted to find a book that explained what Christmas actually is (the non-religious version) and who Santa is. Then this book popped through my door for review and I called off the search. As Amy Trevaskus has written it from the point of view of two little individuals who don't know about Christmas and what it is, this is a perfect way to explain it to your little ones.

Amy's writing always reminds me of Enid Blyton's: innocent and harmless with children's needs put at the forefront. The illustrations throughout are of a beautiful standard and quality and really provide the reader with a sense of the text, particularly useful if your pre-reader is looking through the book by himself.

Ping and Pong: Santa is available to buy here for the bargain price of £6.99
