Ten Questions

I have been tagged by The Crazy Kitchen in Ten Questions, another bleeding meme! However, as I am not one to walk away from a tossed gauntlet, here goes:

1: Describe yourself in seven words:

I am a stroppy, sensitive, tired bugger blogger.

2: What keeps you awake at night?

Not much, when I've gone, I've gone. However, floating off on that cloud can often be disturbed by husband's snoring. If he falls asleep before me then I've had it, and so has he because I elbow or belt him one to make him stop. I once held his nose for a few seconds; it worked, he didn't breathe for thirty seconds and I was worried I'd killed him.

3: If you could be anyone for a day who would you be and why?

Me, but a less tired version with an infinite amount of money. Just one day, that's all I need.

4:  What are you wearing now?

Black top, underwear, vest-top and cropped trousers. My full-length ones need ironing and I can't be arsed at the moment. I'll do it before we go out to the fireworks!

5:  What scares you?

Death. Or rather not being here anymore with my loved ones, and them not with me. I'm absolutely petrified of general anaesthetics because of that, to the point where I have a panic attack and cry.

6:  What is the best and the worst thing about blogging?

The opportunities I've had, both with events or products, but mostly the opportunity to make new friends who I click with. There are now three bloggers (and one tweeter) that I've met that I consider real-life friends, and a few more that I can't wait to meet because I'm pretty sure I'd feel the same.
The worst thing is the arrogance of some bloggers who think they are better than everyone else. They don't bother to talk to the little people (forgetting that they themselves were once there) and they harrass people who don't blog the way that they think every blogger should. They criticise people who review calling them blaggers, but would themselves turn up to the opening of an envelope. I think that envelope should contain the word 'humility' written on it.
7:  What was the last website you looked at?

Twitter, unsurprisingly. Other than that this morning I've been on Facebook to post a Toyologist review, Amazon to copy it across (it wasn't a good one), The Crazy Kitchen, Mummy Mishaps and Gmail. Was that interesting?

8:  If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?Physically: in general it would be how hefty I've become, although specifically it would be to have slender upper arms; I struggle in the Summer months.

Personality: my low levels of self-esteem.

9:  Slankets Yes or No!?

What the hell is a slanket? <goes to look it up>

Um no, I'm 34 not 84.

10: Tell us something about the person who tagged you?

Helen is kind, caring, funny, down-to-Earth and a good friend. She's also a sh*t-hot cook.

Now I tag Mummy Central, MammyWoo (she won't do it though), SAHDandProud and MotherVenting (I want to see what she says about slankets).

The rules of the game are:

1) Answer the 10 questions
2) Tag someone to do the same
3) Come back to the original blog post by Super Amazing Mum and comment that you have done so in order for us to find out who has been tagged and therefore find out more about our fellow bloggers!

Hear hear to your blagger comment, there does seem to be a few that will claim to not accept or seek reviews/freebies/whatever and I have seen someone contradict themselves today! Honesty is the best policy, not saying what they think others want to hear.

Love the slanket comment…ha ha x

The way I look at it is that there's a market out there for reviewers who are parent bloggers. If I am approached it's because they want me to review for them. If it fits with my blog, so be it. Hate liars!

Ive been in a snotty cloud a few days so I've missed the blogger blagger thing but agree about the jumped upedness of some bloggers. Slankets are a waste of time! My brother buys everything that is a passing novelty so I tried one and its much like a blanket only more of a rip off!

Can I just say, right now. Slankets. Yes. I have one. I love it. Thanks for tagging me. I could be on this tonight.

Thanks for the tag honey (even though you're probably feeling sorry for me, cos I say I'm never tagged 😉 ). Will get to it shortly.
I've missed any nastiness about blogger blagging but have to say we try hard to make relationships and fit into the blogging world – but still feel like outsiders sometimes, even 10 months on.
I say each to their own and people should blog on their own terms. Would never criticise others. We'll review things, not because we want to 'blag' but because we think it might be relevant to those who read the blog.
But it is nice to be offered things for free!

    • TheBoyAndMe says

I wouldn't ever patronise you like that! 😉
It's not a recent nastiness, it's a continued one which annoys me greatly. There are people who complain about reviewers & then swan off to London at least once a week on an event. The cliques that exist in the blogging world are astounding, I know what you mean about working hard.

Mahahahha I am going to write a ESSAY on the awesomeness of slankets, there are too many haters around for my liking… 😉

Thanks for tagging me and now I know some more stuff about you. I am in stitches that you may have suffocated him, just because he was snoring! (I sympathise, I really do).

I'll do the post ASAP. *mwah*

    • TheBoyAndMe says

      I don't get their appeal!

He snores really badly (or rather really well) in my defense; it's from the back of the throat and doesn't touch his nose! Infuriating.

    • TheBoyAndMe says

I've always had a thing about them, it's worse since having The Boy; I don't want to risk leaving him motherless.

    • TheBoyAndMe says

He didn't use to be so awful, but lately it's horrendous. He now keeps himself awake until I've fallen asleep or I can't drift off.

  6. KatieB says

:0) I love reading posts like this and finding out more about you lot, I will join in one day soon (when I can shift my ass into gear) I agree with the slanket comment too, how d'ya feel about snoods? xx

    • TheBoyAndMe says

Snoods. Are they those things that I would have had as a child? At the time I liked them, I'm looking forward to being in my 50s again to wear one then 😉

UP THE SLANKET! UP THE SLANKET!! I will support the slanket, believe me when you have a house that is to big/draughty/badly insulated to heat they are fab for putting on to watch tv/play on your laptop/go to the kitchen in (just be careful going down the stairs) but I must admit I wore mine backwards as easier to get on and wrap round yourself when sitting down.
UP THE SLANKET…..sorry just wont last support fan for it

  8. says

Another fan of the Slanket here too! I do love a blanket of any form though (yes, I may be 84 instead of 34!) Seriously though, a blanket which keeps your arms warm when you use the laptop, that's awesome 😀

    What a brilliant post!
I laughed at the fact you thought you'd killed Hubby.
I have the same fear of GA & did write letters to my kids & OH before going into hospital to have Harry.
Blogging/Blagging – its the individuals blog & therefore they decide what they want to do. I have to say though I still feel like an outsider as a blogger but I'm not stopping.
And as for slankets – yes yes yes – I have one & it means I can snuggle up on the sofa and tweet!!!!

  10. mammywoo says

You are totally right of course, or are you? i may just do this.
You are also spot on the money on blogging.
and er, whats up with a slanket? Seriously, they are amazing. Now i know what i am getting you for xmas!!! wahooooooo join the comfort. They are so handy for keeping warm, hiding chocolate from the child and for wiping your eyes with at Grey's!
